We have recently received an international FSC certificate, which has become another important achievement of our activities and a serious confirmation of the responsible attitude of «Dominant-wood» production to nature and compliance with high international requirements in our activities.
Purpose of FSC certification
When we established the production of finger-jointed furniture panels and finished furniture from them, we received an order for the export of exclusive products that must meet all international requirements for ecological safety, safe origin of raw materials and high quality standards. Therefore, the most important task for us was to pass the audit of the authorized FSC certification bodies in order to obtain an international certificate.
The presence of an international FSC certificate (FOREST STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL®, FSC) is a recognition of the compliance of the forest management system and the woodworking product supply chain with international requirements developed by FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). It is a non-governmental, non-profit organization founded in 1993 by a group of environmental organizations, forest companies, traders and forest trade unions to actively promote the responsible management and conservation of the world's forest resources.
The FSC label is globally recognized as evidence of the legal origin of a forest. This is a guarantee that the raw materials for the manufacture of wood products are supplied in accordance with the requirements of responsible forest management and wood production is carried out in accordance with officially accepted quality standards. And now LLC "DOMINANT-WOOD" has the international distinction of ecological safety and FSC quality!
The goal of FSC certification is to create an environmentally sensitive market, promote responsible forest management and segregation of products that originate from well-managed forests, and facilitate consumer choice in favor of such products. FSC certification is voluntary, but each forestry or wood product manufacturer, by obtaining such a certificate, will be able to increase its credibility with partners and contractors, as well as increase the competitiveness of products.
Thus, in order to support the concept of sustainable development and respect for natural resources, while successfully developing business and increasing profits, every conscious participant in the woodworking market should think about FSC certification.
FSC Chain of Custody Certificate
In FSC, there are three types of certification for different stages of forest production and processing, namely, the forest management system certificate, the chain of custody certificate and the controlled wood certificate. Compliance with all FSC requirements means that all products bearing the FSC logo are made from raw materials obtained from responsibly managed forests.
Chain of custody certification is essential for manufacturers, processors and retailers. So for us, as a manufacturer of wooden products, which uses only high-quality, certified raw materials, it was extremely important to obtain the international FSC chain of custody (Chain of Custody) certificate. This will signal to the wider international community that our products come from well-managed forests and controlled sources.
To comply with FSC requirements, each participant in the supply chain must have such a certificate. Only in this case, the final manufacturer will be able to put the FSC logo on their products. The main document regulating the supply chain is the FSC-STD-40-004 V 3-0 standard, which is indicated in the FSC certificate received by our company. This FSC certificate serves as a «pass» to international environmentally sensitive markets.
The presence of the FSC logo on a product means that it is obtained through the efforts to meet international standards of all logging and woodworking enterprises that participated in the manufacture of the product. That is why the use of the FSC trademark is strictly regulated. FSC-STD-50-001 V 2-0 should be followed if FSC trademarks are applied to products by certificate holders (or for promotional purposes). So, having received the appropriate certificate, we get the full right to use the FSC trademarks (abbreviation «FSC», full name «Forest Stewardship Council», logo «tree with a checkmark») on «Dominant» products, which will provide consumers with a guarantee of origin of products from responsible sources.
